Having said that, I’d still recommend this book to people interested in knowing about the economic history of India because it is well-researched and offers a unique perspective that will certainly prove to be an enriching experience. The basic drawback of this book is that the hypothesis and conclusion drawn by the author is completely one sided. Though I may not agree with some of the perspectives offered I can understand how and why – there is definitely a lot worth thinking and considering.

The ideas and the facts presented in the book very intricately weave a story around how the economics da India developed through the citing of personal experiences and cultural and psychological reasons for the same.

A very readable account of India through its journey as an independent nation. I also had some fun imagining that this might be even more the case if he ver decides to turn to the third of the big 4! First two sections of idnia book describe how idealistic thinking of Nehru and Indira Gandhi led the country to poverty and socialist way of thinking.
