This is an excellent method for portable recording.
Try holding the cable still and gently poking the connectors at each end and see if a disconnect happens. You still can find thunderbolt drives without external power supply ProTools only lets these sticks be used eevice a transfer volumn.
I guess i will put the installers too for fast access: Larry O, this doesn’t answer your question directly, but here’s a link you might be interested to read: Bus powered drives are very nice for portable applications, less cable mess to deal with, they even handle AC power glitches when use with latops etc. Is the caching in PTHD sufficient to make drive speed a non-issue for multi-track recording, as long as you’re recording less data than the cache amount?
And my sample drives are large enough I have partitions for Carbon Copy Cloner clones of my system drive partitions. Switch to mobile style.
Back up what’s on there and send it for repair. How much space do you need on the drive. Does it need to band portable or used on another system? Have you looked at the transfer rates?

I had it for 2 years and never gave clash such random faulty ejects messages I learned the hard way a couple of years back about not keeping up to date with my backups. It would be nice to be more mobile using a stick instead.
